The Global Burden of Disease Study, published in The Lancet in 2018 by Griswold and colleagues, analyzed data from 195 countries and concluded that the level of alcohol consumption that minimizes health loss is zero. That study looked at 23 alcohol-related health outcomes together, not just cardiovascular risk in isolation.
